Medical illustrator Jennifer Gentry developed this series for Oncoplastic Surgeon to help outline breast reconstruction procedures, which include: SIEA flap, DIEP flap, GAP flap, PAP flap, latissimus dorsi flap, nipple reconstruction, nipple sparing breast reconstruction (both implant and autologous), and prepectoral and subpectoral implant breast reconstruction using a tissue expander. As a Board Certified Medical Illustrator with over 20 years of experience in practice, Jennifer’s expertise in patient education, medical devices, pharmaceutical marketing, legal exhibits, and graphic design translates into detailed and scientifically accurate graphics. While Jennifer specializes in breast reconstruction and prosthetics, she has also contributed extensively to a variety of scientific and surgery textbooks.

After studying medical and biological illustration as well as anaplastology (or somatic prosthesis design) at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, she started working for Coloplast – a medical device company that designs soft tissue breast prosthetics primarily for women following a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Jennifer helped develop the first mass-customizable breast prosthesis product, illustrated two aesthetic and oncoplastic breast surgery textbooks, and has created artwork for more than 20 academic journals. Her key clients include Theime Medical Publishers, Quality Medical Publishing, McGraw-Hill, Merck, Eli Lilly, National Institutes of Health, American College of Rheumatology, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, and numerous other universities, surgeons, researchers, advertising agencies, legal firms, and medical device manufacturers.
