Artist Feature: Amino Creative

Amino Creative – For almost two decades, the founders of Amino Creative—Alison E. Burke and Cassio Lynm—have enjoyed a productive collaboration that began at a Chicago-based medical publisher. Together, they bring nearly 40 years of combined experience to the table, with the ability to create novel illustrations and multimedia features for a variety of audiences—physicians, clinicians, researchers, scientists, allied health professionals, medical students, patients, and the general public.

Meet Alison: Alison Burke is a board-certified medical illustrator who specializes in presenting complex medical and scientific concepts to the public through illustration, animation, and design. For nearly 20 years, her work has been published in journals, textbooks, brochures, and online. With extensive experience in the fields of graphic design, illustration, and visual problem-solving, Alison brings a wealth of insight and knowledge to each project. She holds an associate’s degree in Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology, a bachelor’s degree in Entomology and Animal Science from Cornell University, and a master’s degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Medical and Biological Illustration. She is an active professional member of the Association of Medical Illustrators and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.

Meet Cassio: Cassio is a board-certified medical illustrator with more than 20 years of experience in the field of visual communication. For nearly 14 years, Cassio was a medical illustrator at the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in Chicago, a weekly peer-reviewed publication of clinical and basic medical research. He had the privilege of being the first full-time medical illustrator in its 117-year history.

He received his MA in Medical and Biological Illustration from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2000. He has been a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators since 1996, and has served on its Board of Governors. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and received recognition and awards.

“At Amino Creative, our specialty is communicating science and medicine, but we can help explain much more. We tackle the interesting, the unique, and the unusual…welcoming projects that challenge our technical, conceptual, and creative skills as artists and visual communicators.”
