Medical illustrator Adam Questell has designed over 350 book illustrations for the Surgical Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation: A Comprehensive Guide to Performing the Cox Maze IV Procedure. This extensive project, which was also expanded to include surgical pocket guides, pull up banners, and journal publications, highlights Questell’s expertise in developing scientific content for intricate medical processes. As the founder of visual communications company AKY U Design, Questell values the art form of establishing a communicative relationship that allows each of his clients to effectively express the specifications of their project goals.

Adam elaborates:

My areas of expertise go beyond the technical execution of illustrations, animations, and graphic design. I think my expertise is really the process. I easily adapt to and become proficient with new, highly scientific and technical information which allows me to ask better questions. Having that deeper understanding leads to efficiently helping the client flesh out a clear story before a pencil is used or a pixel is pushed. I also genuinely care about making accurate effective imagery. Revisions are treated professionally not personally. Ultimately we are working together toward a common goal and I want to make the client’s life easier and better along the way.

Working in the industry for twenty years has not only taught Questell how to streamline open communication with a wide variety of clientele, but has also given him valuable insight into how to clearly and efficiently convey complex concepts using detailed works of art. Specializing in medical illustrations, medical animations, natural science illustrations, industrial illustrations, and industrial animations, Questell offers a unique, graphically-captivating flare to each of the new projects he takes on. Some of Questell’s clients include Genentech, Stryker, Pfizer, Scientific American, Digitas, Create NYC, and multitude of other creative agencies, publishers, and companies.
