Body Scientific’s Anatomy Recognized with Two Top AMI Awards
We are thrilled to celebrate our longtime Sourcebook client, Body Scientific International, for their outstanding achievement at the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) awards!
Their groundbreaking publication, Anatomy – An Overview of the Human Body, was honored with both the Award of Excellence and the Social Impact Award.
Elevating Representation in Medical Education
Created under the direction of Marcelo Oliver and the Body Scientific team, Anatomy – An Overview of the Human Body was designed from its inception to pair clinical accuracy with a meaningful commitment to diversity and inclusion. Throughout the book, people of color are intentionally represented across the medical artwork, ensuring that a broader, more diverse generation of students can see themselves reflected in the study of human anatomy and health sciences.
With a foreword contributed by Dr. Shaquille O’Neal, the publication serves as a powerful example of how thoughtful visual storytelling can break barriers in medical education and patient health literacy.
Celebrating the Community
This double recognition highlights both the extraordinary aesthetic and pedagogical standard of the publication, as well as its vital contribution to diversity in scientific media.
“The awards recognize both the visual and educational quality of the publication and its broader social impact—two goals that have been at the heart of this project from the beginning.” — Marcelo Oliver, Body Scientific
We extend our congratulations to the talented medical illustrators, subject matter experts, reviewers, educators, and contributors who brought this project to life, as well as the institutions and educators supporting inclusive resources in medical education.
