Liz Bradford of OXHIP Studio was commissioned by Montana Outdoors Magazine, a conservation periodical, to help illustrate a feature spread on decomposition.
The painting shows a variety of scavengers involved in breaking down an elk carcass. From a grizzly bear, to ravens and magpies, to the blowflies and beetles that break the carcass down into soil.
