This image of a water bear (Macrobiotus sapiens) egg was captured by Eye of Science.

The egg was found in moss samples from Croatia but water bears are found all over the world, including regions of extreme temperature (hot springs) and extreme pressure (deep underwater). They can also survive high levels of radiation and the vacuum of space electron microscope.
