This large format 3D mural created by Audra Geras depicts the process by which proteins are targeted for degradation by sequential enzymatic ubiquitination. The ubiquitinated proteins are then degraded into short peptide segments by lytic enzymes lining the core of human 26S proteasomes.
The image was created for a biotechnology firm focused on the development of immunotherapies for cancer.
