This week, the Medical Illustration & Animation Sourcebook highlights recent work from Applied Art.
Applied Art Visualizes Innovation in Robotic-Assisted Surgery for Vascular Technology Inc.
Applied Art’s latest project with Vascular Technology Inc. (VTI) brings surgical innovation to life through a detailed medical illustration showcasing the ROSI system—a flexible irrigation and suction device designed to improve visualization during minimally invasive procedures.
The artwork depicts ROSI in use during a robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, highlighting how the system enhances the surgeon’s view of the operative field. With its streamlined, unobtrusive hose design, ROSI allows for easier maneuverability and greater efficiency in the operating room.
Through technical precision and compelling visual storytelling, Applied Art effectively communicates VTI’s commitment to advancing surgical tools that support better outcomes and clearer visualization for surgeons worldwide.
Applied Art is a medical illustration studio dedicated to creating imagery that is both scientifically accurate and visually compelling. Led by Jay LeVasseur, Principal and founder, the studio has over fifteen years of experience crafting high-impact visuals that promote medical innovation, clarify complex biomedical concepts, and depict surgical procedures with precision and artistry.
With an MFA in Medical and Surgical Illustration from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Jay collaborates closely with clients to deliver work that is timely, professional, and effective—transforming complex ideas into clear, beautiful, and informative visuals.
