This is from a night class at the American Museum of Natural History called Animal Painting, taught by Eric Hamilton and Greg Follender. The class lets students paint and sketch in the North American Mammal Hall. The fact that you get to go in the AMNH after official hours, and sketch and paint in peace and quiet the animal models is pretty awesome. I took a camera with me and took pictures of all the diorama in that Hall front and center without bumping into any other tourists, hahaha! This is a step from studying from real animals in a zoo or outdoors, but the trade off is these animals and lighting don’t move. The instructors constantly check on all the students for their progress and struggles, and always offer directions and tips.
